About Our Church

The History of TCUIC

On Tuesday, September 14th, 1999, a small group of people met for bible study at the home of Minister Evans. Over the course of the next several weeks, the hunger among these believers for more of the Word of God became obvious. The garage of Minister Evans’ home was then converted into a place of worship. On Sunday, November 7th, 1999, the first official service for the Church of Unity in Christ took place.

This small believing church was packed beyond capacity for that service. It quickly filled to become “standing room only.” From the response of the congregation to the services that followed, it became immediately apparent there was a yearning of many members for sound teaching and reverent worship. Through the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, this is precisely what Minister Evans provided them and continues to provide today.

The history of this church is still being written, but there is a growing belief among its members that everything which has already transpired is simply a prelude for even greater things yet to come. God’s Holy Spirit fills and leads this church. Because of this, there is a sense of divinity and holy leadership that is always present. There is also a sense of unity among its members. There is also a desire to follow God in the spirit of oneness wherever He may lead them.

We are a congregation that is diverse with regards to background, vocation, and ethnicity, but very like-minded concerning matters of faith and doctrine. Our church conducts business according to its constitution and by-laws. Both have been developed in accordance with the Word of God. Regarding areas of doctrine, membership and discipline, officers and their duties, special committees, and the use of our church leadership for community progress, we seek first and only to serve and honor the Lord.

We believe the Word preached should boldly speak of our imperfections, followed by the grace of God and dependence upon His Word. We believe that through the proclamation of the Good News of the Gospel, the Holy Spirit renews our faith and fills us with gratitude and reverence for the Lord. As well as the sacrifice of His Son upon the cross. Only once this has taken root in our hearts do we believe that we can enter the process of developing a relationship with God as true agents of His will on Earth.

Meet the Staff

William Evans

William Evans

Pastor

William Evans is the founder and Pastor of the Church of Unity in Christ, established February 2000. William comes from a God- fearing family that gave him a foundation of love, reverence, and faith in God. This led to him committing his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1987 under the guidance and leadership of the late Bro. McKinley Matthews of the House of the Lord located in Houma, Louisiana.

There he learned the disciplined needed to study and apply the Word of God. After five years being led by the Holy Spirit, William moved to Dallas, preaching, and teaching in many churches, street ministries, nursing homes etc. Finally settling in the church of New Hope under the tutelage of Pastor Sammy Thompson, in 1999 he was license and ordained to preach the word of God.

Pastor Evans made a vow to God if God would teach him, he would teach his people. He has maintained that commitment throughout his ministry. The mantle that rests on Pastor Evans is to cause individuals to experience the glory of God like he did through the teaching, preaching, and application of the Word of God.
